Why You Should Go Gluten Free with Keto Coconut Oil [FREE GUIDE]

Spread the love

And the mistake almost everyone is making that is exacerbating allergies and weight gain, and just making everyone sicker.

If you think about it, buying coconut oil used to be a fairly simple process. You would find a company selling coconut oil, buy the coconut oil, and assume you were getting the “good stuff” straight from the coconut tree.

But with time, many people have woken up to the amazing benefits not only of coconut oil but also a gluten-free and ketogenic diet. I’ve written about this in a free guide, so you can spot “real” gluten-free keto-friendly coconut oil and get all of the amazing benefits from this very trendy yet scientifically proven lifestyle.

The questions remain though: have most coconut oil manufacturers made sure they are offering pure products to those who are pursuing a gluten-free or keto lifestyle? Or who even have sensitive health conditions that demand that products be packaged in a gluten-free environment, separated from any allergens, including GMOs, soy, wheat, corn, nuts, or even shellfish?

Sadly, the vast majority time the answer is a whimpering “no”.

And honestly, even for organic companies in the USA, it’s really tough to find a place that isn’t a cesspool of cross-contamination of a whole panoply of allergens with so much junk food being processed on the equipment of copackers.

So let’s take a quick look at the secret of avoiding these contaminants in your coconut oil, ponder the one mistake that many are still making, and consider the benefits of staying non-gluten and going keto.

  1. The good news is that despite the trouble American manufacturers have with finding gluten- and allergen-free facilities to process their food, including coconut oil, in places like Sri Lanka it is possible to keep a pure product pure by packing imported food in the country of origin.
  2. As long as you are packing in a trusted FDA facility with oversight by a good company, packing outside of the USA is the best way to keep products pure. Sure, packaging options can be more limited. But you’ll see below that there’s something that consumers can do about that too.
  3. This practically means that you should look for those certified products with their gluten-free and allergy-free labels to avoid the contaminants plaguing so much of our supermarket food today.
  4. Responsible companies also do periodic R5 ELISA tests. These tests are important for those celiacs who are hypersensitive to gluten. When a company’s product has passed one of these 3rd party tests, it means the gluten is undetectable (ie practically not present). After all, why take a chance if you are susceptible to anaphylactic shock, especially when GMOs and allergens are so ubiquitous in American food products? So if you have doubts about the company, ask for the R5 ELISA results.
  5. With many people wanting and even needing the benefits of a ketogenic diet, it also helps to know that some coconut oils are more ketogenic than others. This is because, in places like Sri Lanka, the rich volcanic soil helps the coconuts produce more MCTs (medium-chain triglycerides) from the oil of the coconuts, which help turbocharge the results of a keto meal plan.

In other words, though many ketogenic dieters quickly discover that coconut oil is somewhat of a staple in their weight loss regiment when they start a keto program, many fail to realize, that MCTs are responsible for the results in a big way.

Being more ketogenic inducing than the long-chain triglycerides present, MCT oil (medium-chain triglyceride oil) is the fraction of coconut oil that is more highly ketogenic, consisting of capric, caproic and especially caprylic triglycerides.

So while there is some controversy in consuming MCT oil apart from coconut oil, the higher MCT composition of coconut oil from Sri Lanka, is not only great for losing fat around the belly, and fat burning in generalit’s also very important in the formation of ketones, which are really great for the brain, and according to many scientists, have a role in prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.

Interestingly enough, though the American Heart Association warmly recommends vegetable oil in place of coconut oil, the prevalence of the cardiovascular disease has actually risen in Sri Lanka since the people of that island have been convinced to give up their ghee, coconut oil, and mustard oil and instead use the recommended polyunsaturated fats such as corn, sunflower, or safflower oils.

But their diet of getting as much as 63% of their energy from coconut and its oil is nothing new.

Back in the 1930s, Dr. Weston Price found South Pacific Islanders whose diets were high in coconut and its oil were healthy and trim, with heart disease being virtually non-existent. And fifty years later, in 1981, researchers studying two Polynesian communities for whom coconut was the primary caloric energy source found them to also have excellent cardiovascular health and fitness.

In other words, with the saturated fat in coconut oil lowering cholesterol and triglyceride counts, taking away coconut’s special LDL cholesterol may actually increase your risk of heart disease.

Research, in fact, supports that keeping to high fat and low carbohydrate diet reduces the size of LDL cholesterol, making it less likely to accumulate in your arteries and block blood flow. Diets that are high in carbohydrates and low in fat increase the risk of metabolic syndrome actually putting you at a higher risk for cardiovascular disease.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS OF SPECIALLY SOURCED KETO OIL FROM SRI LANKA

The final benefit of much coconut oil from Sri Lanka is that it is not bottled in plastic jars. Producers of coconut oil, who have passed on their craft from generation to generation, are well aware of the danger of leaching of plastic jars. And the evidence of plastic pollution now being presented to the general public may now be described as ubiquitous, if not devastating.

Consider this: Americans used 50 billion plastic water bottles alone last year. And with the U.S.’s recycling rate of plastic being only 23 percent, we can estimate that 38 billion water bottles are wasted each year (ie end up in our environment).

The practical consequences? Consider this: it has been shown that  93 percent of that bottled water has been tested has been shown to contain plastic particle contaminationIn other words, the plastic that is leached from containers such as the plastic jars of coconut oil ends up in our streams, rivers, and seas, and yes, even in the “purified” water we get in bottles, or even from the tap.

It has gotten so bad, that these plastic particles are beginning to be found in the air we breathe.

Even taking away the dreaded BPA, doesn’t solve the problem. bisphenol-S (BPS), phthalates, dioxins, and other chemicals in plastic have been shown to do much damage to our bodies, and the environment. The damage to hormones, digestive system, and the brain is too much to list here, but needless to say, these plastics are difficult to get out of our bodies (and environments) once they’re in. So don’t suffer from the allergies and weight gain associated with a body heavy on toxins, skip the plastic whenever you can.

FINALLY, A REAL SOLUTION

Of course, there are some companies out there that have taken their responsibility to a source not only gluten-free and keto-rich coconut oil to help those with allergies meet their health goals, but some have also put this liquid magic in a (cardboard cushioned) glass jar.

In fact, in appreciation for our hard work here at Coconut Country Living, our customers have recently shown their appreciation by making us earn the Amazon’s Choice award for our organic gluten-free free coconut oil.

For us the decision to make it so health-friendly was simple: our suppliers told us they wouldn’t package this world-class coconut oil in anything but a glass jar. After all, why ruin it letting it soak in plastic?

To celebrate our award and bring the issue of plastic pollution to the forefront of the environmental debate, we are offering a special on Amazon’s Choice Organic Coconut Oil in a glass jar. And for a limited time, you can even get it with a special bonus from Kindle best-selling author Michael DiSalvo: Coconut Oil Secrets of Health and Beauty.
